The Thai army and Cambodian army on Thursday agreed on a ceasefire and will turn to negotiation table, a Thai government spokesman said on Thursday. Panitan Wattanayagorn, government spokesman, said after a meeting between high ranking officials of the two forces ended that Thailand and Cambodia agreed to stop the clash at the disputed border area.
The spokesman added that the Thai government will soon open the border check-points, having been closed after the clash erupted, and advise Thai evacuees to return to their home. The skirmishes erupted last Friday at Thailand's border province of Surin, has claimed the lives of at least six Thai soldiers and injured about 70.
