Zaheer Khan Name in Arjuna Awards Contender’s List

India's premier fast bowler Zaheer Khan's name was put forward for the prestigious Arjuna Award by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Tuesday. Zaheer has been in sublime form for Team India over the last year which was well emphasized by his outstanding performance in the recently concluded ICC World Cup which the home side went on to win.

He picked up 21 wickets and was the joint highest wicket taker along with Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi. If awarded, Zaheer will join the likes of Salim Durani, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, Vijay Manjrekar along with team-mates Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh and Sachin Tendulkar amongst others.
